BYD recently disclosed that the 2025 Tengshi D9, based on a brand-new dedicated plug-in hybrid platform, will officially launch on December 26. This model not only upgrades the intelligent cockpit and smart driving assistance, but will also adopt BYD's fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid solution. For reference, the current 2024 Tengshi D9 is priced starting from ¥339,800, and the new model is expected to be priced similarly.
According to the previously released official images, the 2025 Tengshi D9 has not undergone significant design changes. The front still features an open design, but the grille is now filled with an "L"-shaped design. Additionally, the laser radar module on the roof suggests that the vehicle might adopt BYD's advanced driving assistance system, the "Sky Eye".
In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 5250 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3110 mm. It is possible that the chassis has been equipped with an adjustable suspension system, which has reduced the vehicle height by 20 mm compared to the current model.
The cockpit remains largely unchanged, with LCD screens on the left, center, and right of the dashboard. The driver's side is equipped with a HUD (head-up display). The two-spoke steering wheel and electronic gear shifter retain the classic design, and are expected to be upgraded to BYD's latest DLink 100 intelligent cockpit system.
The rear seats are also equipped with entertainment screens and small tables. The second-row seats feature AirSPA zero-gravity seats with independent touch control units. The vehicle also comes with a Devialet sound system for an enhanced auditory experience.
In terms of power, the 2025 Tengshi D9 will use BYD's DM5.0 plug-in hybrid solution, which includes a more efficient 1.5T engine for hybrid vehicles and an EHS200 dual-motor unit. The high-end version supports hybrid all-wheel drive, with a top speed of 190 km/h. Additionally, the Blade battery has a capacity of 39.938 kWh, and depending on the variant, the pure electric range is 145 km (AWD) or 155 km (FWD). The fuel consumption in hybrid mode is 7.15 L/100 km (AWD) or 6.65 L/100 km (FWD).
