2025 will be the year of large SUVs. After the great success of the large SUVs from Li Auto and Wuling, many brands, including Lynk & Co, Deep Blue, and Tengshi, have also launched their own large SUVs. Meanwhile, the popularity of three-row six/seven-seat SUVs remains high. Brands such as Wuling, BYD, and Haobo all have plans for three-row SUVs in 2025. Let's take a look at the 7 three-row SUVs that will be launched in 2025!
Lynk & Co 900 EM-P
The long-awaited flagship SUV from Lynk & Co, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P, has finally been released. The Lynk & Co 900 EM-P features the brand’s classic urban oppositional design language, although this new model has upgraded the aesthetic compared to the first generation. The front end and tail lights still bear traces of the initial Lynk & Co design.
In terms of size, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P, nicknamed the 'Hangzhou Bay Range Rover', positions itself as a large SUV. Its dimensions are 5230/1999/1810mm, with a wheelbase of 3160mm. It is indeed quite close to the Range Rover in terms of size.
The seating layout of the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat arrangement, with both the second and third rows of seats being adjustable in terms of positioning. The tailgate features a fully openable 'sky-door' design, making it easier to access luggage.
Powering the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P is the Lynk & Co SPA Evo hybrid architecture, offering three power options: 2.0T+DHT Pro+P4 motor, 2.0T+DHT Pro+dual P4 motors, and 1.5T+DHT Evo+P4 motor. The dual P4 motor version even supports rear-wheel steering. As a new entrant in the large SUV segment, the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P provides a new choice for consumers with its plug-in hybrid technology. The design and configuration are at mainstream standards, and if priced around 300,000 yuan, it could be highly competitive.
Deep Blue S09
After the success of the Deep Blue S05 and S07 SUVs, Deep Blue Automotive will launch the all-new Deep Blue S09 SUV in 2025. The design of the Deep Blue S09 will feel familiar at first glance, but upon closer inspection, you'll notice signature design elements such as the petal-shaped daytime running lights and starry ring-shaped tail lights, which are characteristic of Deep Blue’s family design language. Overall, however, the Deep Blue S09 seems to follow the current trend of large SUVs, which have become somewhat similar in appearance.
In terms of size, the Deep Blue S09 measures 5205/1996/1800mm, with a wheelbase of 3105mm, making it similar in size to the popular large SUVs like the Li Auto L9 and Wuling M9. The Deep Blue S09’s seating will follow a 2+2+2 three-row layout, with the second row featuring rear entertainment screens similar to those in the Li Auto L9.
The promotional pricing for the Deep Blue S09 is expected to be between 300,000 and 350,000 yuan, but given the brand's positioning, it will likely have more success in the 250,000 yuan segment, where competition is less fierce.
Wuling M8
The development of the SUV market in 2025 once again validates the rationality of Li Auto’s existence. It seems the market does not mind a family-oriented 'stacked design', but prefers a 'stacked design' that has become mainstream. After seeing the sales success of the Li Auto L series, other companies have also begun to explore the 'stacked design' route. One such example is the upcoming Wuling M8, a new mid-large SUV.
Based on the camouflaged test photos circulating online, the Wuling M8 continues with the successful and market-recognized design language of the Wuling M9. The front and rear light clusters are similar to those on the M9, and the overall design can be seen as a smaller version of the Wuling M9. The two are akin to the relationship between the Li Auto L9 and L8.
In terms of positioning, the Wuling M9 is a large SUV, while the slightly smaller Wuling M8 is expected to be a mid-large SUV. It will likely adopt a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration, with a five-seat version also expected to be available. The pricing for the Wuling M8 is expected to be around 350,000 yuan, targeting models such as the Li Auto L8.
Geely Galaxy Starship 9
2025 is expected to be a year when flagship models from major brands are released in full force. Many brands, including Deep Blue S09, Tengshi N9, and Lynk & Co 900 EM-P, have chosen the number '9' for their flagship models, symbolizing prestige and excellence. Geely’s Galaxy Starship brand will also release its flagship model, the Galaxy Starship 9, after the Galaxy Starship 7 was launched in 2024.
The concept car of the Galaxy Starship 9 debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. From its design, it is clear that the car will continue with the family design language of the Geely Galaxy series, focusing on technological trends. In terms of size, it will represent the peak of flagship models, with a body length of around 5.2 meters. The seating layout could feature both a 2+2+2 three-row six-seat configuration and a double-row four-seat executive flagship layout.
As the flagship model of the Geely Galaxy brand, the Galaxy Starship 9 will likely continue with the plug-in hybrid system, a powertrain Geely is known for. It is expected that technologies such as the intelligent electric drive and AI digital chassis used in the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P will also be featured in the Galaxy Starship 9.
Tengshi N9
The BYD sub-brand Tengshi completed its layout in the large flagship SUV segment in 2024. The Tengshi N9 was released in 2024 and is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2025. The Tengshi N9 follows the family design language and is quite recognizable. It is also a large vehicle, with dimensions of 5258/2030/1830mm and a wheelbase of 3125mm, which is quite similar to the Lynk & Co 900 EM-P.
The Tengshi N9 adopts the 2+2+2 three-row six-seat layout, though it does not feature the popular 'sky-door' tailgate design that has gained attention this year. In terms of pricing, the Tengshi N9 is expected to be priced between 350,000 and 450,000 yuan, filling the price gap between mid-large and large SUVs.
BYD Tang L
The BYD Dynasty series flagship model, the Tang L, has been eagerly awaited, with teaser images and design plans released recently. This highly anticipated SUV is expected to be launched in the first quarter of this year.
The design of the Tang L will follow the current design language of the BYD Dynasty series, with little change in the front and rear end. The side profile, however, will be more SUV-like, with a flatter roofline to improve headroom and comfort for second and third-row passengers. The door handles will also feature a hidden design.
In terms of size, the Tang L is expected to be larger than the current Tang model, positioning itself as a mid-large SUV and possibly the flagship of the Dynasty series. The Tang L may offer both a regular five-seat configuration and a more practical three-row six-seat option.
Chery Fengyun T11
Chery will also release a large flagship SUV this year. The Fengyun T11, the flagship model of the Fengyun new energy series, is expected to be launched in the first half of this year. The first PT car of the Fengyun T11 was offline in December last year.
The Fengyun T11 positions itself as a large SUV, with dimensions of 5150/1995/1800mm and a wheelbase of 3100mm. The seating layout features a 2+2+2 three-row six-seat arrangement, similar to the large flagship SUVs represented by the Wuling M9 and Li Auto L9.
The Fengyun T11 will adopt an extended-range powertrain, with a combined range of around 2000 km. Based on Chery’s current market positioning, the Fengyun T11 may be competitively priced between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan.
